Wood flags are by far the best selling items at SoCal Woodworking.  This is due to our craftmanship and attention to detail in every flag we make.  There are many wood flags sold online but they are not all created equal.  Many are made with low grade inexpensive wood that is simply painted and glued together.  All of our flags are made from solid 3/4″ thick red oak and stained, not painted, to allow the beauty of the grain to show through.  The flags are milled with a CNC machine which ensures perfect and clean cuts every time.  Each stripe is then hand sanded smooth to give an even cleaner look and feel.  Our flags are even stained on the tops and sides and the back is sanded and finished.  

Please keep in mind that wood is a natural product so no two flags are ever identical.  Slight variations in color and grain patterns are normal.

We have two sizes of flags available at SoCal Woodworking.  The small flag measures 12″ wide x 22 3/4″ long and the large flag measures 15″ wide x 28 1/2″ long.  These are made to these specific sizes for a reason.  All of our flags conform with the American flag proportions presented in Title 4 of the United States Code, § 1 and § 2.  This code specifies the exact ratio of all items on a flag based on the length and width.  This means the Stars and Stripes are proportional to the size of each flag.  It may seem like a little thing, but we believe the flag should be produced as close as possible to their specifications to honor what it stands for.  

All of our flags have mounting brackets attached to the back with keyhole slots for easy mounting to a wall.  The small flag keyholes are 18 3/4″ apart to match the stud layout in most walls. The large flag keyholes are 24″ apart.  Wall anchors should be used if there is not a sold background to mount the flag.

Although we do have a limited number of flags in stock, the majority of our flags are custom made to order.  This is because many of our flags have specific engraving like names, titles, retirement dates, etc. that could not be produced ahead of time.  Most of the time we have the wood already cut to size and sanded to save time in the ordering process.  A limited number of American flags are usually in stock and ready for delivery.

Our flags are designed for indoor use only and should require no maintenance over the years.  They are finished with several coats of satin lacquer finish and can simply be wiped with a soft cloth when dusty.  Care should be taken to avoid placing these in a place of prolonged sun exposure as this could cause color variations and cracks in the wood over time.
